Insecurities Part II

So to continue the thoughts I have had recently as I read the book "So Long Insecurities" by Beth Moore....

Beth Moore pointed out two verses from the book Proverbs.

Proverbs 31:10, "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies." (KJV)

Proverbs 31:25, "Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come," (KJV)

Both of these verses shout out to us that we are covered/clothed with strength and honor and that we are women of virtue OR in some translations virtue is called valor. So why would this be the key to saying good-bye to insecurities?

Valor is a mighty warrior...the same word used to describe Gideon (Judges 6:12) But more striking is the clothing God put on us. He says we are clothed with strength and in other translations say DIGNITY!! Why is this significant? When we allow our insecurities to rule we have the dignity image of ourselves about as tall as a pinhead. Beth really dissected this verse to help us understand that the 'clothing...dressing' here is like a covering...a healing much like we would dress, clean and cover a wound. Furthermore, God states..not hopes...states we have dignity.

Beth says,"To possess dignity is to be worthy of respect. Worthy of high esteem. Absorb this: you are worthy of respect. So am I. No matter how foolish insecurity has tried to make us feel, we have the right to dignity because God Himself gave it to us." She continues, "Notice that God didn't put this honor/dignity in our hands. He put it on our heads. He wrapped it as a crown right around our minds, just where we need it most." God knew we needed it in our mind!

Dear friends how insecurities have caused us such shame or paralyzed us. I would encourage you to join me seeing yourself as the confident woman that God created you to be as He clothes us with honor and dignity. :) On a side note...reading the book, "So Long Insecurities" is a good start in conquering those insecurities.

Next post will be back to a fun food for St. Patrick's Day! Stay tuned!
