Blooming Onion Bread

Bake a round loaf using your basic whole wheat bread recipe!

Have you noticed I keep using the same bread recipe but creating totally different types of baked ideas with the basic whole wheat bread. I love that I can make desserts, bagels, English Muffins, French Bread, garlic bread, pretzels, hamburger buns...and the list goes on. All can be easily done with your Bosch Universal Plus mixer making the basic whole wheat bread recipe! I love my Bosch mixer and all the fun things I create with this amazing stand mixer! :)

Ingredients for topping:16 oz. Monterrey Jack cheese
1 stick butter melted
2 Tbs onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic

Step One: Make basic whole wheat bread dough. (click here for bread recipe!) Form about 1# of dough into a circle. Let rise on a cookie sheet till doubled in size. Bake 350 degrees till golden brown.

Step Two: After completely cooled, place on foil covered cookie sheet. Slice the bread without cutting through the bottom. Now, slice the bread the other directions making the bread appear to cube.

Step Three: Place thin slices of Monterrey jack cheese between the slices of bread. Mix melted butter, onion powder and garlic. Drizzle over the bread and cheese. If you notice by the pic, I used shredded cheese....slices would have been easier in hindsight.

Step Four: Cover the bread with foil and bake 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Uncover the bread and bake 10 more minutes until cheese melted well.

This will be a hit for your Super Bowl snack foods. It is a great bread to serve with your soups. This is a great bread for a snack food. WE LOVE THIS BREAD idea! :)
