Blustery Day-Warm your bones Chili
I was visiting my son/daughter in law AND our precious granddaughter this past week. My daughter in law fixed this wonderful chili for us. It definitely fit the bill for a wonderful fall soup/chili. She got this great recipe from, "Just Joy" cookbook. This in itself is a wonderful cookbook as proceeds go to The Lighthouse Family Retreat Center which is a family-center built for children with cancer. It is a place for the child with cancer and their family to have a week of refreshment and pampering. Click here to read some amazing stories!
1# ground sirloin (basically lean hamburger meat!)
1 onion chopped*
1/2 green pepper, diced*
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 Tbs chili powder
1 large can red kidney beans
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can tomato sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 cups water
Brown the ground sirloin, onion and green peppers. Add the salt, pepper and chili powder while cooking. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer for at least 1/2 hour. Serve with grated cheese and corn chips.
Serves 6-8.
*Remember you can use your Bosch Food Processor OR Bosch Slicer/shredder to do this chopping for you! I always love recipes that are fast and let my Bosch mixer be my power kitchen tool to accomplish the job.
